Teen PregnancyCLIENT: UNITED WAY OF GREATER MILWAUKEE
During Heather's 5 years as Serve's Executive Director she led and coordinated the Teen Pregnancy prevention awareness campaign which contributed to a 50% decrease in Milwaukee's teen pregnancy rate. In spite of widespread early rejection and protests of Serve's controversial advertising tactics, Heather lobbied passionately and tirelessly. Early on she presented tactics and received support from the Milwaukee City Council Transit committee. The groundbreaking campaign contributed to a 30% decrease in the teen pregnancy rate during her tenure and laid the groundwork for a cumulative 50% drop in Milwaukee's teen pregnancy rate, paving the way for campaigns in New York and Chicago. Serve's early unwavering commitment to the strategy of attention-grabbing ads has resulted in the creation of one of the most successful teen pregnancy prevention campaigns in the country. During Heather's tenure, Serve, and the campaign media partners donated a total of $525,215 of in-kind services. Collectively, the campaigns were seen over 8.1 million times. |
